Como estas? Howdy do? What’s up? What’s cracking?! LOL Praise the Lord we’re here and blessed with another day hallelujah! Well I pray you are well, grateful and ready to move in purpose- On Purpose today. I have a message that has been on my heart for a little over a week that I am going to share with you and see what the Lord will do.

FAITH CHECK: Ear, Mind, Heart, Mouth

Let’s start with a few verses in Luke 6:43-45 EXB:

Two Kinds of Fruit

43 “[L For] A good tree does not produce ·bad [rotten] fruit, nor does a ·bad [rotten] tree produce good fruit. 44 [L For] Each tree is ·known [identified] by its own fruit. [L For] People don’t ·gather [pick] figs from thornbushes, and they don’t get grapes from ·bushes [brambles; briers]. 45 Good people bring good things out of the good ·they stored [treasured] in their hearts. But evil people bring evil things out of the evil ·they stored [treasured] in their hearts. ·People speak the things that are in their hearts [L For the mouth speaks what overflows from the heart].

These verses are weighty and dropping only the TRUTH! In the preceding passages Jesus says “Look at yourselves.” He teaches about judging the speck in another’s eye while you have an entire plank in your eye that you’re ignoring. Before He talks about “Two kinds of people” He covers the verses above that I’ve shared about the fruit of people. Now we can go to the grocery store or maybe where you live you can go outside to see and pick some fruit anytime.

What about our fruit? I was at the YMCA gym when all of this dropped in my spirit. I do workouts and walking with my church family, but it had be quite a long time since I had been to the Y. It actually took it raining and since I recently moved Holy Spirit kindly reminded me to go back to the Y where He always spoke to me in the water. While trying to choose a mode to start on the elliptical I read an option that said “fit check.” I said you know what, let me go ahead and do this and just see where I am. Lord knows I have some work to do on this temple, so I want to know what this test is going to tell me.

Real quickly… Did you know that we are a 3 part being right? We have a Soul (mind, will, emotions), Spirit (a spirit that lives in the body) and Body (I like how my Pastor puts it- our earth suit). And guess what?! We have a responsibility to care for every single one of them.

Okay, so I am on the elliptical just a moving away trying to stay in the expected range that the machine was asking of me and not go ham (crazy) from the competitive part of me. It was getting close to the end of the fitness check and I was excited about getting to the finish line, but suddenly the test ended and the screen began reading my results. I was completely confused and trying to see what happened- why it stopped on me. Finally a scrolling message popped up that said my heart rate was too high and that is why it forced the stop.

This blew my mind on so many levels at the same time! Wait a minute? So my heart rate was at a cautionary level and I wasn’t even aware?! As my healing continues in my body from Long Covid I notice the changes overtime how much more I may be able to do on a particular day vs. where I was 3 years ago, but each day can be completely opposite from another. Either way, in this moment I wasn’t having an awareness within me that I might need to scale back what I was doing. I didn’t hear my heart or my body telling me to back off from the level I was moving in. That is no bueno my loves! Yes I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but I (we) also must use wisdom.

Also in this moment I received the comparison of the fit check to a faith check. How does this look spiritually for us vs. what is happening in our natural body? How and how often are we intentionally- purposely checking the level and health of our faith? Selah.

Did I sit down after this notification and take a break? Uh no I did not. I got off of the equipment and decided to walk the track while all of these thoughts were going through my mind.

Romans 10:17 ESV says “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Proverbs 4:23 ESV reads “Keep your heart with all vigilance,
for from it flow the springs of life.” The NIV interprets this verse sharing “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” I could keep going with what the Bible expresses and I encourage you to dive into the Word for yourself to read even more.

Years ago I heard that “everything starts in your mind” and “it starts in your mind, moves to your heart and comes out of your mouth.” Well I would like to submit that our Faith Check can be tested in various patterns if you will. No matter where in the flow you decide to start you must check the function, health and level of your ear, mind, heart and the fruit of your mouth. Yes I started with ear and this goes for any form of hearing we may receive. Words and thoughts can be heard within us not just from others. Those thoughts can be from ourselves, Holy Spirit, the traumas of our past speaking or even be familiar spirits and demonic in nature.

We hear a message that enters our mind and thoughts as a seed. We can allow this seed to grow by nurturing it or ruminating on the message. As we allow it to take root it gets planted within our heart and then in season that which you once heard begins blossoming as fruit from your lips. This can also be fruit springing forth through our actions, behaviors and habits. Faith comes from hearing and everything you do flows from your heart. When will you pause to evaluate the status of your faith?

How do you need to shift your faith today family?

  • What are you seeing yourself doing?
  • What are you hearing yourself speak?
  • What thoughts are taking the most real estate in your mind?
  • Who are you allowing to speak into your life?
  • How is your heart?
  • What treasure have you been storing up in your heart my loves?
  • Can you see these stored up treasure on the big screen of your daily life?
  • Are you staying sensitive and able to discern how to shift in the moment to how God’s Word would lead you?
  • Are you tapped in with Holy Spirit so that He can freely speak and guide you in all of your ways?
  • Are you surrounded by Godly, wise counsel- a multitude of couselors?

Holy Spirit is the absolutely greatest gift that God blessed us with to be ever present in our lives. That technology within the elliptical that stopped my test when it assessed that I may be in danger- we have a far more intelligent and living regulator within us, Holy Spirit. We can listen to Him or we can be distracted, we can ignore Him and do what we choose moving in our own strength or we can truly remember to purposely check in with Him throughout our day so that our faith stays grounded in God. Love leads. Love corrects. Love never ends.

Today I pray that your faith not be in your abilities, gifts, talents, titles, how much money is in your account, how many likes you get on social media or what others are saying about you. I pray that your faith is deeply rooted in the one true living God who created you on purpose for a purpose for such a time as this. I pray and leave you with Psalm 91:9-16. Keep the faith my loves! God’s got you- believe it, receive it, trust Him and let Him lead you On Purpose!

Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” ~ Psalm 91:9-16 ESV

Love & Blessings,
