Hola Mi Amor!
Como estas?! I pray you are well. To my HMA fam in the USA- Happy 4th of July! May you safely celebrate this Independence Day while remembering that our true FREEDOM is found in Jesus the Christ! And to all of my international HMA- happy day to you! LOL
Oh Lawd! Ya girl is tired AND believing for my body to operate in perfection as it was created to, WHILE still believing for the full recovery of my brain/head amongst other parts lol!
This post is all about keeping it 💯, keeping it all the way real! We started out the week with 3 dogs and my 5 year old niece Keylaina, and now it’s only me and Mamba. This is the first time I’ve been able to enjoy him by myself since Mother’s Day when he came home.
And fam!!! Click here to watch our 11am service at The Advancing Church last Sunday! Our praise dance ministry opens after the prayer with our “Oceans” piece. The sermon was incredible as well! Pastor Jordan shared Faith That Eliminates Fruitlessness: Don’t Just Act Like It!
So let’s get down to business and get NAKED!!! Every day is a great day to get naked! Yes it is swimsuit season, but baby I want you naked naked! For any self-righteous, religious and critical readers- take a breath and chill, it’s a great thing to be naked. And to any hormonal or flesh lead folks whose mind took that statement WAY too far, get your mind out of the gutter and go take a cold shower LOL!
Did you know that there are about 100 instances in the Bible that speak about being naked or nakedness?! That’s more times than it speaks about being clothed. We first hear of nakedness in Genesis 2:25 which in the ESV reads:
[25] And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
God has really been dealing with me over the last few months about my nakedness and how I am showing up NOT just when I’m alone, but also around others. For awhile I wasn’t released to wear my favorite gray contacts that I’ve been wearing on and off since high school. I’d either wear my clear contacts or one of my glasses. There was a time period where I could only rock my natural curls and even more recently specific times where I was to go either completely natural faced or with limited makeup. All things that at some points of my life I would never do or desire to do.
If you are a first time HMA reader, I am a HUGE animal lover and dream about the farm I will have with my husband one day in Jesus’ name. In hindsight, these last two months caring for 2 dogs with completely different dispositions has been brutal to my body. I already had an about 3 inch scar from a horse incident above my left ankle and now I have several scars and marks that are healing from my time with the dogs. Some from Jaay’s extra hard & lethal tail when he would wag it and catch my leg in the act + from a few of his squabbles with Mamba where I got scratched. The bite on my left breast was the worst of them all! These are the most bruises and scars I’ve had since I was a rough little girl into every activity under the summer sun & when I was still stuck in the cycle of domestic violence with my daughter’s father back in the day. BUT God!!!
In the past I would have been so embarrassed by these marks that I would go around covered up. God has done a lot in me to the point that I am no longer worried or concerned about what others think nor comparing myself to others. Even the transparency of my responses have gone to another level. I am now okay with being exposed. I am finally truly comfortable with my own authentic self, my nakedness and am completely unashamed!!! Hallelujah!
Now let me be clear here. This is not the trending menopause “I don’t care club” type of comfortable, nor is it the “I’m just getting older and I don’t care what you think” type of attitude.
Biblehub.com beautifully breaks down this scripture as you will read below…
And the man and his wife
This phrase refers to Adam and Eve, the first human couple created by God. Their relationship is foundational for understanding the biblical concept of marriage as a union between one man and one woman. This union is later affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19:4-6, emphasizing the sanctity and permanence of marriage. The phrase highlights the intimate partnership and equality between Adam and Eve, as both were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
were both naked,
The state of nakedness here symbolizes innocence and purity. In the context of the Garden of Eden, it reflects a time before sin entered the world, when there was no shame or guilt. This nakedness is not just physical but also spiritual, indicating complete transparency and openness between Adam, Eve, and God. The absence of clothing signifies a lack of barriers in their relationship with each other and with God.
and they were not ashamed.
The lack of shame indicates a perfect state of harmony and trust. Shame is often associated with sin and guilt, which had not yet entered the world. This phrase underscores the original righteousness and holiness of humanity before the Fall. It contrasts sharply with Genesis 3:7, where after sinning, Adam and Eve’s eyes are opened, and they realize their nakedness, leading to shame and the need to cover themselves. This transition from innocence to shame marks the beginning of humanity’s need for redemption, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who restores the broken relationship between God and humanity.
I would love to encourage you to really reflect on all of the ways you need to drop the cover-up in your personal, professional and spiritual areas of your life to seriously show up naked!
Today let’s all start to strip!!!
• Strip off those old habits of being fake in any way!
• Strip off the tendencies of “the American way” of greeting folks or being greeted only to say you’re good when you’r not!
• Strip off the “culturally acceptable ways” of beauty, how to dress, what you should buy, drive or eat that are all killing you and masking who God has called you to be in this hour.
• Strip off the spirit of procrastination from you and anything God has anointed, appointed or ordained you to lead, build or create and fully be obedient in this season!
• Strip down every barrier (physical, spiritual, mental, relational…) that is standing between you and Jesus.
• Strip away from every natural and spiritual thing, memory, activity, action or thought that has numbed, distorted, disrupted or sabotaged your full trust in God trading your innocence for shame!
I love you, and most importantly God loves you! So don’t be afraid of getting naked mi amor. Your life and the lives of others are depending on it. Pressure makes diamonds. Shine brightly like you were created to!
Have a blessed day- On Purpose!
Love & Blessings,
Janabee
