Hola Mi Amor, mi Papi y mis hermanos,
Cómo estás? Well I can’t believe today is the finale of our series. I pray that you have been blessed and that you have shared this series with everyone that needs to hear it.
This is a love letter from a child to their father in honor of Father’s Day- with you in mind. I pray that you feel the love and the continual healing flowing through this post.
Happy Father’s Day to my Daddy, my brothers, my Pastor and all of you fathers out there! Love & blessings to you all!

Hey Daddy

Hey Daddy
Can you give me your ear
I need your time
Come close- over here
I wanna start by thanking you
For loving me, providing, protecting and praying for me
I know it’s not easy in this world that can be so cold
Raising young children when you hadn’t even seen the world
Daddy you are so strong, and smart, skilled and gifted too
You know most of my talents I definitely get from you
You have a heart for others
You’re compassionate, thoughtful
And let me say this…
Daddy I’m sorry
Daddy I’m sorry for all of the times I never apologized
For all of the times I didn’t listen to your words that were wise
I’m sorry for breaking your heart
For running away
For the things I knew I shouldn’t start
I’m sorry for the pain I felt inside, instead of speaking up and talking I let them fill me with pride
Daddy I need to say this with all of my love
Lord give me grace for these things I will speak of
Daddy I know God made you special, into the man that you are
You’ve battled and you’ve survived ONLY by the grace of God
A life so unfair, you’ve lived through it all
I can’t imagine the things that you went through, I can’t imagine them at all
And still you’re purposed and still you’re called
One of the most important is being Daddy to us all
Now Daddy I love you- that’s not up for debate
but these things I share come delivered with a weight
The pain of your past and traumas of your youth
Can we work to reverse this, these old ways of love redefined into what the Word of God
The words that He had on His mind
The ways to nurture, care and show me love
The true divine character, the ways of the One above
Discipline is necessary, although that be true
Let the Father remind you of His ways to you
Daddy I need your affection
I need your time
Life’s too short and we can’t press rewind
Send me a text, call, DM or even a voice note
Mail be a card with the poem you wrote
Take me on dates to dinner, to dance
Sit beside me on the couch and watch our favorite shows when you get a chance
We can go on a walk
Bike ride
Or to the range to go shoot
I don’t really care, as long as it’s me and you
I know your Daddy wasn’t there
To teach you how to be a man
To father your children, to love on your grands and reach out just because and to hold my hand
But your love is important
I’ll take all I can stand
It’s an honor to be your child
It’s an honor to love you man
And even though it may have seemed like your Daddy didn’t care
God our Father is the blueprint and the whole reason you’re here
So no matter who raised you- parenting out of their own traumas, traditions and culture
We don’t have to carry that now
We don’t have to carry that forward
We’re in a new season
We’re in a new era
I’m ready for change
I wanna love you better
So Daddy I thank you
For the good times and the bad
For hearing your laugh whenever I’m sad
For all of the memories that have made me who I am
I thank you Daddy for your love and all of your support
I don’t want to go through life without you in any way or any sort
As we walk together in His hands our legacy is shifting
Thank You God for the healing and all of your love that’s always unchanging
I love you Daddy
Happy Father’s Day and thank you for your love that has helped to shape me
Love & Blessings,
Jana M. Gamble
